Statistics Tutorial (Third Edition)

Author: Liu Hanliang
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2005-12-01
Features: Although this book includes some basic concepts of socio-economic statistics that are not covered in mathematical statistics, such as statistical survey organization, time series, and indices, and for the part of statistical inference, A Course in Statistics emphasizes the explanation of methodological ideas rather than the derivation of mathematical formulas. The definitions and explanations of methods and concepts are also particularly adapted to the thinking habits of students in liberal arts. Therefore, this textbook (and other similar statistical textbooks) should not be equated with mathematical statistics. This course can serve as a fundamental textbook for statistics majors, as well as a systematic textbook for non-statistics majors to learn the basic principles and methods of statistics. Through this course, students will be able to apply statistical methods for quantitative analysis and empirical research in combination with their own fields of study. The third edition of A Course in Statistics has undergone significant adjustments to the content, updated the data, and added more exercises. Considering that statistical software such as Excel is already widely used, to reduce the length of the book, we have omitted the introduction of statistical software application methods for each chapter.
