Publishing Time: Not available
Features: This book is based on the lecture notes prepared by the author for graduate students in the Department of Physics at Peking University, covering the fields of optics and theoretical physics. It has been revised and supplemented to include fundamental concepts and theoretical methods of quantum electrodynamics and quantum optics (including the recently developed quantum stochastic trajectory method), incorporating the author's own research findings. The content is broadly divided into two parts:
1. Quantumization of electromagnetic fields (relativistic) and electron fields, the fundamental properties of photons (such as spin, parity, momentum, angular momentum, and energy), the physical meaning of the Dirac equation and the concept of positronium, the basic equations of quantum electrodynamics, the Lorentz condition problem, scattering operators and Feynman diagrams, atomic absorption of photons, electric multipole radiation and magnetic multipole radiation, atomic Rabi oscillations in strong light, resonance fluorescence, etc.
2. Coherent and squeezed coherent states of light fields, quantum statistical description of light fields, optical measurements and the correlation functions of light fields, the interaction between atoms and light fields with the Coulomb potential, quantum statistical theories of dissipation and fluctuations (master equation and quantum Langevin equation), quantum theory of lasers, etc.
This book can serve as a textbook for graduate students in optics, physics, and quantum electronics, and can also be referenced by professionals engaged in laser theory, nonlinear optics theory, quantum optics, quantum electronics, and quantum information theory.
