You may say, "I know! I know! My parents love me, and I love them too!"
Some little friends might also say, "I know, love means romantic love, and in English, it's called LOVE."
What you all say is correct. However, today Sister Juping is going to introduce to you a book that tells a story about "love being a gift."
In our story, the daughter of Dr. Manette, Lucy, falls in love with the French nobleman Darnay. The father of Darnay, the Marquis St. Evremonde, once persecuted Dr. Manette. Because of his love for his daughter, Dr. Manette chose to forget his hatred and suffering, allowing her to marry the son of his enemy.
The young British lawyer's assistant, Carton, also loved Miss Lucy very much. However, after learning that Lucy had fallen in love with someone else, he chose to step back and offered sincere blessings to the one he loved.
When Miss Manette's husband was unjustly imprisoned due to the crimes of his ancestors and faced death, Carton, who had been silently waiting in the shadows, stepped forward. To bring happiness to others, he sacrificed his young life.
We hope that after carefully reading this book, little friends will gain a deeper understanding of the meaning of "love."
