Features: The story takes place in Hertfordshire, fifty miles away from London. When the young, wealthy bachelor Mr. Bingley rented a nearby estate—Netherfield Park—Bennet family, with five adult unmarried daughters, was instantly excited. At a ball, Bingley fell in love with Jane, the eldest daughter of the Bennets, and Mrs. Bennet was overjoyed. Also attending the ball was Bingley's noble friend Fitzwilliam Darcy, who was handsome, very wealthy, but proud. He refused to dance with Elizabeth, Jane's younger sister, believing she was not worthy to be his partner, and Elizabeth immediately formed a prejudice against him. However, soon after, Darcy developed a fondness for her lively and charming demeanor, and at another ball, he asked her to dance but was rejected by Elizabeth, leaving Darcy in an awkward situation. The young officer Wickham was handsome, charming, and very popular. At a ball, he told Elizabeth that Darcy was an evil, cold-hearted man who refused to execute his father's will and cheated him out of the inheritance left for Wickham. Elizabeth also suspected that Bingley's sudden departure might be connected to Darcy, as she believed Wickham's words and grew even more resentful of Darcy. Later, when Elizabeth visited her friend Charlotte's house, she met Darcy again, who was visiting his aunt Catherine de Bourgh.
