Features: Since its publication in 2004, this textbook has received great attention and support from peers and experts in various institutions, as well as a broad readership. Many valuable suggestions and constructive comments have been proposed. We sincerely express our gratitude on the occasion of the second edition. This revision builds upon the original strengths of the textbook while addressing shortcomings in the first edition. Additionally, Chapter 9, "Capillary Electrophoresis Analysis," and Chapter 18, "Mass Spectrometry Analysis," have been rewritten. Considering teaching needs and disciplinary development, three new chapters—"Thermal Analysis," "Flow Injection Analysis," and "Microfluidic Analysis"—have been added, enhancing the textbook's applicability and making its content system more comprehensive. Microfluidic analysis has emerged as a highly notable achievement in analytical science over the past decade, with rapid development. Currently, such content is still scarce in textbooks. The purpose of including this material in a dedicated chapter is twofold: first, to recognize its importance and sustainable development prospects, thereby maintaining the textbook's characteristic of keeping pace with the times; second, to enable students to gain a deeper understanding of disciplinary development trends, which is more conducive to fostering their innovative thinking and abilities.
