Features: Estuarine tidal flat resources are a potentially very valuable land reserve resource, providing humans with vast living space and serving as the mother of our wealth. Therefore, we must protect them while adhering to scientific development and utilization, adopting practical and effective measures. We must adhere to the principles of regional adaptation and respect for natural laws, implementing comprehensive and coordinated planning to ensure the coordinated development of estuarine tidal flat utilization and ecological environment protection. We must rely on and apply advanced and applicable reclamation technologies, continuously innovate, implement new development models and operational mechanisms, improve scientific management levels, and guide the utilization of estuarine tidal flat resources in China toward scientific, coordinated, steady, and sustainable development. Under the guidance of the scientific development concept, we must inject new ecological concepts and value orientations into the development and utilization of estuarine tidal flats based on ecological compatibility principles, achieving harmonious coexistence between humans and tidal flats, and following a sustainable development path that "meets the needs of the present generation without endangering the survival of future generations."
To summarize, discuss, and further deepen the theory and practice of estuarine tidal flat resource development and protection, under the advocacy and support of the China Society of Water Resources, this book was published with the extensive participation and joint efforts of colleagues from across the country and representatives from all sectors of society. The book comprehensively presents new technologies and concepts in estuarine tidal flat utilization and ecological protection since 2006, covering aspects such as the definition of river mouths and seas, tidal flats and ecology, and new technologies in tidal flat reclamation.
