Features: Star and Moon Chronicle might be somewhat unfamiliar to some people, but if you mention The Friend of the Magician, many will know it. I was the same way. I had heard early on that Frost Leaf was publishing Star and Moon Chronicle, and my immediate reaction was, "This guy is really talented, and he's got a new book out." I still want to give him a big shout-out here: Star and Moon Chronicle is The Friend of the Magician! Star and Moon Chronicle is a work about pursuit and redemption. Obviously, the author Frost Leaf doesn't want to follow the path of those self-indulgent writers who churn out thousands of words in a day just to make readers exclaim "" ( means "satisfying" or "thrilling"). The author thinks deeply, and he makes the readers think along with him, which is quite rare. What's even rarer is that he doesn't make a thinking novel sound difficult or obscure; instead, the entire book has a very light and pleasant tone. Some of the trivial matters between Karal and Mo Yu often make readers laugh out loud, adding a lot of charm to the story. The book employs an extremely rare dual-perspective narrative. As the chapters change, readers can view a fifty-year-long tale of enmity, affection, and revenge from two different angles: the once-powerful mage Karal from fifty years ago and the warrior Mo Yu who grows up on the path of pursuing his heroic predecessors. This technique is not yet common in the burgeoning Chinese fantasy genre. Frankly, when I first saw the author use this technique, I was both amazed and impressed. The amazement came from the author's bold attempt, while the admiration came from how successful the attempt was. Frost Leaf is an old friend of mine. In my impression, he is a writer who is extremely serious and hardworking, with a kind of "strong determination." Perhaps it is this "strong determination" that allows him to stay focused on writing for long periods, using his pen to create a colorful world where we can all explore together.
