Features: This book is a specialized monograph that systematically introduces broadband wireless access technology following the of standard—technology—application. The content covers the concepts of broadband wireless access technology, the standard systems, key technologies, current development status, industrial dynamics, business application scenario analysis, and future development trends of major broadband wireless access technologies (WiFi, WiMAX, and iBurst). As a key focus of the book, it also provides in-depth discussions on hot topics such as the IEEE 802.16—2004 protocol reference model, the IEEE 802.16e—2005 standard and its key technologies, the network architecture of WiMAX, hybrid networking solutions combining WiMAX with 3G/WiFi technologies, and feasibility analyses of WiMAX frequency applications. The book strives to balance breadth and depth while presenting readers with an authentic view of broadband wireless access technology.
This book is suitable for engineering technicians and market planning personnel engaged in technical tracking and research, network planning and construction, and business development in telecom operators, equipment manufacturers, and research and design institutions, as well as relevant management personnel. It can also serve as a training textbook for broadband wireless access technology and as a reference for faculty and students in communication engineering programs at universities.
The book provides a comprehensive overview of broadband wireless access technology, with detailed elaborations on wireless local area network (WLAN) technology, 802.16 wireless mesh network (WMN), the IEEE 802.16-2004 air interface specification, and WiMAX network architecture, among other topics.
