Features: The ancients spoke of "establishing virtue, achieving merit, and leaving a legacy" as the three immortal deeds, and Mao Zedong is undeniably worthy of this title. The ancients also said that literature is "a great undertaking for governing the world and an immortal achievement," and Mao Zedong is equally worthy of this praise. The achievements of Mao Zedong's life are great and diverse, and so are his writings. As time passes, his great achievements and brilliant works will increasingly shine. Moreover, Mao Zedong's poetry is unparalleled among his peers and contemporaries. His outstanding works are not only unmatched by predecessors but also set a benchmark for successors, destined to become a radiant gem in the cultural treasury of the Chinese nation, forever shining with brilliance. May this book serve as a small stepping stone, allowing us to build upon the existing achievements in the study of Mao Zedong's poetry. Here are a few points to note. First, the term "complete collection" is relative, meaning both comprehensive and not entirely so. To say it is "complete" is true—it includes more poems and verses than any previous or current versions, with greater volume and broader scope. Specifically: not only have the collected poems and verses been increased, but also couplets of the same or similar type to poetry; not only are printed texts included, but also letters where Mao Zedong made significant contributions in the field of poetry; not only are annotations provided, but also information on related figures, history, geography, and cultural relics, along with images. In this way, it may allow for a more comprehensive, multi-dimensional, and three-dimensional understanding of Mao Zedong's poetry, enhancing the pleasure of reading and appreciation.
