Russian Poetry Selections

Publishing Date: 1999-01-01
Features: Although Russian poetry has only a few hundred years of history, it has blossomed like a garden in full bloom, with various schools of poets shining like brilliant stars. In recent years, several specialized books on Russian poetry have been published, which are highly valuable for those who specialize in Russian and foreign literature, but they may be somewhat unsatisfactory for Russian language students and postgraduates, as the poems are all translated into Chinese. While the translations are excellent, they are not the original poems. Therefore, we decided to compile a collection of Russian poems, gathering some short and famous poems together for Russian learners to appreciate. In 1998, the State Education Commission granted me a six-month scholarship to study in Moscow. During this time, I conducted research on Russian poetry, collected a large number of original poems, and after careful selection and organization, formed the collection you see today. The book provides a detailed introduction to the basic forms and characteristics of Russian poetry, helping readers better appreciate its artistic charm. The upper part of the book (from Chapter to Chapter 4) and some annotations in the lower part were written by me, while the biographies of all the poets in the lower part and some annotations were compiled by Comrade Wu Jun. In 1999, it was the 200th anniversary of the birth of the great poet Pushkin, and compiling this collection of poems can also be considered a small tribute to him!
