Features: Liu Zongyuan was a distinguished thinker and litterateur in the Tang Dynasty of China. To understand the extent of research conducted by scholars through the ages on him, the editor has, in recent years, combined their research work with a relatively extensive review of poetry collections, poetry commentaries, notes, historical books, and classified compendia since the mid-Tang Dynasty, compiling them into this collection. The materials included in this book cover more than 460 representative commentaries from the mid-Tang Dynasty to the May Fourth Movement over a span of over 1,100 years, as well as more than 480 types of books, arranged in chronological order. The selection focuses primarily on materials that comment on Liu Zongyuan's thoughts and literary creations, but also includes some important materials on his life and career, as well as those that examine the authenticity of his works. Materials that provide textual and semantic explanations of his works are also selectively included. From the collected materials in this book, it can be seen that the study of Liu Zongyuan has never ceased through the ages, with particularly numerous researchers in the Song and Qing dynasties. Many of the current high-quality annotated editions of his collected works and valuable commentaries were produced during these two periods.
