Features: This book collects 122 commentary articles published in the opinion section of Nanfang Metropolis Daily in recent years, covering all aspects of social life. It highlights how, in the midst of historical transformation, media can create space and reach heights in political commentary (or what is termed "literati discussing politics") through self-reflection and effort. Currently, the opinion pieces of Nanfang Metropolis Daily are developed based on the following: China and its people are undergoing a historical transformation that has not ceased for over a century. In this transformation, the direction of the country, its progress, its challenges, and its fate are the topics we must closely focus on and actively express in our commentary. This seemingly grand and elevated proposition is, in fact, the media's self-awareness in the current state of China. This book can serve as a model for media professionals writing on political commentary, a reference for civil service exam applicants in essay writing, and the best reading material for high school students writing research papers.
To have shared life and death and now reunited, how can we forget the shared pain? If death is covered in dust, it is merely history on paper. Only by constantly bringing it up does it become a bloody and glaring reality. The same death, if it involves thousands, is just data on paper, while the personal accounts of specific cases reveal a more vivid and painful experience. Thus, if you choose to forget, please turn it into data and bury it in history. But if you wish to draw from this breath of death the dignity of life and the courage to live, let us learn to commemorate, until we can calmly touch the tears in each other's eyes and the pain in our hearts.
This passage is dedicated to the unprecedented air disaster that occurred at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport on the eve of the Mid-Autumn Festival 14 years ago, to the 128 victims who perished in the three-plane collision on October 2 of that year, and to the survivors who experienced inexplicable terror and the stark divide of life and death in that disaster. Several of them, touched by the newspaper's retrospective report on "A Century of Airport," finally came together, reflecting with a mix of solemnity, confusion, relief, and enlightenment, and finally looked back.
