Features: This collection of "Erhu (Zhonghu, Gaohu) Sheet Music" is compiled according to the principles of "China National Instrumental Music Treasury - Solo Pieces," guided by the idea of "ensuring that representative and outstanding works from all over the country are included as much as possible." It contains a total of 138 pieces, organized into four parts:
1. Creative Pieces;
2. Traditional and Folk Pieces;
3. Transplanted Pieces;
4. Zhonghu and Gaohu Pieces, as well as Guangdong Music.
Part 1 selects 71 solo pieces from the past 50 years, based on the length and approximate difficulty of the music, with most being teaching pieces commonly used in music schools and popular works frequently performed by cultural groups for the general public.
Part 2 includes 32 pieces, including all of A Bing’s (three solo pieces), as well as Liu Tianhua’s works. As a pioneer and founder of modern and contemporary erhu music, Liu’s compositions have long been adopted as traditional teaching materials in music schools and by erhu players. Therefore, all of Liu’s erhu pieces and some traditional pieces passed down by him are included in this section. Additionally, to allow players and learners of the erhu to explore and master the folk music styles of various regions more broadly, some typical "Jiangnan Silk and Bamboo" pieces and other representative folk pieces with distinctive styles are also included, such as River Water and River, Diao Yue, A Branch of Flower, and Flowing Wave Melody. Due to their unique musical styles and performance techniques, these pieces are also included in this section.
Part 3 consists of 15 transplanted or adapted violin pieces or other instrumental works.
Part 4 is compiled to help players gain a broader understanding of the performance characteristics and styles of the zhonghu and gaohu. This collection emphasizes the inclusion of outstanding erhu (zhonghu, gaohu) works and strives to highlight representative key pieces.
