The "Qunyu Tang Tie" by Song people is a collection of calligraphies from famous masters from the Jin to Song dynasties, carved into stone by the from his family's collection of ink rubbings. It consists of 10 volumes. Huaisu's "Thousand Characters" is the fourth volume. Huaisu was a renowned cursive script calligrapher of the Tang Dynasty, often paired with Zhang Xu as the "Mad Zhang and Crazy Huai." His cursive script is exquisite in force and natural in elegance. This volume of Huaisu's "Thousand Characters" exhibits a thick and robust, unrestrained, and rich calligraphic style, which differs significantly from the Tang Dynasty's aesthetic. However, with its unique and powerful artistic expression, it remains an outstanding masterpiece in the history of calligraphy. The calligraphic techniques of this piece are particularly noteworthy, with three main characteristics: thickness, boldness, and richness.
