By the shores of Dalin Lake in the northern grasslands, there lives a fierce female bandit named Long Qing, a dominant leader of a thousand-li-long horse caravan, indulging in her own brand of justice and singing like wine. However, as a young man heads north, the curtain of iron blood begins to rise. The power struggles in the capital seep into the vast Great Wall of the frontier. National affairs and martial arts tales intertwine into legends; the emotions of lovers and brothers merge into the thunderous roar of breaking through ranks. This is a tale of thrilling grandeur and joyful clarity, fit for three cups of wine.
The "Ming Jian Legend" series includes Volume 1: "Breaking Formation · Dragon Roar," Volume 2: "Setting the Storm · The Stalker," Volume 3: "In a Dream · Three Thieves," and Volume 4: "Wutong Shadow · Never Say Indifferent." The four novels are role-based, each independent yet interconnected. Reading them together is even more enjoyable. Please stay tuned.
As the vast Gengger Grassland gradually opens its arms, the entire caravan erupts in cheers. At first glance, it’s a common escort bureau within the inner regions—uniform flags, vehicle insignia, and proper names. The only thing that catches the eye is a small crimson talisman stuck on the red-painted escort carriage, depicting a phoenix in mid-flight with a powerful, sinuous posture. More imposing than ordinary phoenix designs, it exudes a commanding aura.
It’s late spring now, and the entire grassland is drenched in a proud, vibrant green, so deep and lively that it seems to compete with the boundless blue sky. Dewdrops on the grass tips shimmer under the rising sun, clear as a child’s eyes. Even the rough-hewn men in the caravan can’t help but smile at the sight.
"Third Master! Third Master, look—over there is Dalin Lake!" A young man in his late teens pointed to the horizon and shouted in excitement.
The "Third Master" was a young man in his early twenties, wearing a brocade robe with a black sable fur collar, yet his forehead was adorned with a neatly tied Lin Zong scarf, suppressing his slanted eyebrows. Among the burly men around him, he seemed particularly slender. He lightly tapped his left-hand folding fan against his right hand with approval. "Dandong, is that where you said the swans take flight?"
Dandong’s dark face glistened with sweat, his smile sincere as he nodded repeatedly. "Yes, Third Master. We’ll reach the lake by evening today and set up camp. It’s the perfect season, so we’ll definitely see the swans!"
The young man nodded slightly. "Alas, the little sparrows don’t know the ambitions of the great geese!"
Dandong quickly chimed in, "Red fox? Yes, I heard from the master of the escort bureau that there really are red foxes here. If it’s autumn, their thick fur will grow even longer—wow! That would make a beautiful hat!"
The young man chuckled dryly. "Dandong, the geese and swans are the ones I’m talking about. What are you talking about foxes for?"
