1. "The Great Guan Folk Dance and Song Collection" is one of the series of ethnic folk culture books of Guan County, compiled by the County Culture and Sports Bureau after years of collection, organization, and compilation in accordance with the instructions from higher authorities. It aims to reflect, inherit, and promote the excellent local ethnic folk culture, enriching the spiritual and cultural life of all ethnic groups in the county.
2. During the compilation process, it adhered to the guidance of Marxism, Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, and the "Three Represents" important thought, as well as the Party's "two hundred" policy and the ideological line of seeking truth from facts, striving to objectively present the local culture of Guan County and serve its "three civilizations" construction.
3. The book adopts a classified compilation method, consisting of three main parts: ethnic folk songs, ethnic folk music, and ethnic folk dances. The ethnic folk songs include four categories: labor life, love life, folk customs, and children's rhymes. The ethnic folk music includes summaries of Han folk ballads and tunes, excerpts from the music of the Donggong Opera, as well as the musical scores of Han folk love songs, solo wood leaf, solo bamboo flute, and suona performances, totaling two categories and six subcategories. The ethnic folk dances include two major categories: Han and Miao, with several subcategories under each category. The book is approximately 250,000 words in total.
4. The materials used in this book were performed and narrated by local folk artists, collected, interviewed, recorded, and organized by cultural workers. They were then compiled, revised by the editorial committee, and finalized into a manuscript before being submitted to relevant departments and leaders for review before publication.
5. The dialects and colloquialisms in the text are retained as originally written. For the sake of reader convenience, footnotes with superscript numbers or annotations following the text are appropriately used for dialects, colloquialisms, and terms that may be difficult to understand.
6. This book mainly collects folk dances and songs of the Han and Miao ethnic groups.
