What are the symptoms of Tourette syndrome?

Patient's question:

Recently, my child doesn't know how it happened, but he always repeats the same action. Is it possible that he has Tourette syndrome?

Doctor's answer:

Tourette syndrome primarily occurs during childhood and adolescence. It is a disorder characterized by involuntary, repetitive, rapid motor tics or vocal tics involving one or more muscles. In addition to the above manifestations, some children may also exhibit symptoms such as inattention, hyperactivity, or obsessive-compulsive behaviors, lasting for at least two weeks. This is referred to as transient tic disorder, while chronic tic disorder lasts for more than a year.
