Features: The development of human society, especially the growth of large-scale industry and the rapid advancement of science and technology in the past century, has not only created material and spiritual wealth for humanity but also brought severe threats and disasters to the living environment of humans. Protecting the living environment of humanity has increasingly attracted global attention. Since the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, an unprecedented environmental protection wave has emerged worldwide, and pursuing sustainable development has become a consensus among countries. The level of environmental awareness has become an important indicator of a nation's social development progress and the degree of its civilization. Learning from the lessons of "pollute first, then treat" from industrialized countries worldwide, China has adopted sustainable development as a "basic national policy." Relying on technological progress, strengthening environmental education, and raising the environmental awareness of the entire nation are the foundation for implementing the sustainable development strategy. This book is written for students of science and engineering who are not majoring in environmental science. The author has been teaching the course "Fundamentals of Environmental Engineering Technology" to non-environmental majors at Yanshan University and has compiled this book based on that experience. In terms of content selection, it is student-oriented, focusing on the introduction of basic principles and technologies, emphasizing close ties with general technical foundation courses for science and engineering to facilitate reading for non-environmental majors. In terms of content organization, it emphasizes practicality and strives to maintain a complete system. In terms of content presentation, it aims to be simple, concise, and easy to understand, as well as accessible and engaging.
