Solfège for a Single Voice (Revised Version)

Publish Date: 1997-07-01
Features: Music students in higher normal universities should be familiar with and master both fixed and movable-do solfège systems. Chinese folk songs in this book are best sung using movable-do solfège; for selected foreign folk songs, works of famous composers, and sight-singing exercises, fixed-do solfège is recommended. Difficult pieces in each chapter should be practiced with precision. When sight-singing, use a soft voice because singing softly helps concentrate attention, strengthens inner pitch and rhythm sense, and improves accuracy. For high notes, lower them by an octave if necessary, but avoid shifting the entire piece down an octave—preferably use falsetto for high notes. Pay close attention to expressive markings, dynamics, and tempo indications in the pieces, and treat sight-singing exercises as musical works to correctly convey their artistic essence, thereby enhancing musicality. The book includes commonly used major and minor scales, arpeggios, comparisons between major and minor modes, and modulation exercises. These materials can be inserted into relevant chapters for practice. Originally published in two volumes, this edition is combined into one for convenience in teaching. Corrections have been made to errors in the original text, and adjustments have been made to the appendices.
