Features: When I first read the works of various scholars from the Tang and Song dynasties, I was not able to finish a single volume before my thoughts flowed out, and I could not calm my mind. Upon delving into their skills, I realized that they were merely like worldly selectors, only grasping the general idea. In my later years, with nothing to do, I repeatedly reviewed the complete works of various scholars and finally understood their true talent and true state. I realized that what I had seen before was only about one-tenth of it. Thus, I secretly felt ashamed and regretted: If I had started this pursuit decades earlier, I could have recognized the unique aspects of each scholar and engaged with them on equal footing. Those with high talent could expand my own talent, and those with deep achievements could advance my own. I would have combined and integrated their strengths to create my own style. Alas, I have grown old and my energy has waned, no longer able to compete with the ancients. However, since I started this pursuit in my old age, even though I cannot catch up, I can still see, which is better than those who never glimpse the inner sanctum in their entire lives. Thinking of the countless talented people in the world, I realize that they are likely as carefree as I once was, only realizing it in their later years. What if I shared my late-life insights with them early on, saving them decades of overlooking the obvious. Although this may not benefit me, it will greatly benefit these talented individuals. Therefore, I have briefly highlighted my observations and shared them with fellow enthusiasts.
