Features: Peking Opera is a shining star in traditional Chinese art and is highly regarded as the essence of Chinese culture. Its beautiful singing and rich tunes have captivated enthusiasts. Over six decades ago, Mr. Liu Tianhua composed musical scores for Peking Opera singing styles performed by Mei Lanfang. More than two decades ago, a large number of modern Peking Opera singing styles were adapted into erhu solo pieces, which became wildly popular on the music stage at the time. Renowned erhu players such as Min Huifen and Xu Jiangde once mesmerized music lovers with their erhu renditions of Peking Opera tunes, demonstrating the infinite charm of Peking Opera melodies and their close connection with the erhu. To further expand the repertoire of erhu performance and fulfill the desire of erhu enthusiasts to play Peking Opera tunes, I collaborated with Mr. Tang Yitui to compile this book, "One Hundred Peking Opera Melodies for Erhu Performance," as a gift to all friends who love the erhu and Peking Opera. What sets this book apart from the earlier volumes in the "Erhu Performance" series is that, in addition to the erhu performance scores, it also includes the lyrics. This design not only helps performers understand the content and emotions of the singing but also provides convenience for Peking Opera enthusiasts who wish to sing, and even allows the erhu to accompany the singer for self-entertainment—truly a win-win solution.
