Features: Choral singing belongs to the category of vocal arts and is a type of polyphonic music. It is one of the performance art forms centered on group singing. While choral singing, like other vocal performance forms, is based on vocal production and requires good breath support and resonance, it differs from other singing forms in its vocal production and tone color application, as well as in its artistic characteristics, artistic qualities, and artistic expressive features. Choral art emphasizes commonality, pursues harmonious, balanced, and three-dimensional harmonic beauty, and focuses on coordinated and varied tone color beauty. As a required course for music majors in higher normal universities, the choral course primarily aims to cultivate students' appreciation for choral singing and their ability to perform multi-part choral songs through the teaching of choral knowledge and training skills, as well as through the rehearsal and performance practice of choral works. This course further enables students to master the basic methods of choral teaching, the skills and techniques of choral training, and the organizational abilities for establishing, rehearsing, and performing choral groups. It lays a solid foundation for students to later excel in school music teaching, conduct second-class teaching activities, and participate in social choral events. According to the teaching plans and schedules of music majors in higher normal universities, the choral course is typically offered in the third year for four-year undergraduate programs and in the second year for three-year associate degree programs. The teaching content mainly consists of two parts: basic choral training and teaching of choral works.
