Can't help but recall Jiangnan

Author: Ye Lingfeng
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2000-01-01
Features: Ye Lingfeng's essays and short pieces undoubtedly enrich the realm of modern Chinese prose creation, and his creative experience is worth referencing. Unfortunately, in the past three decades, his name has rarely been mentioned, and his works have not been published. Books of his published overseas are also difficult for readers in mainland China to access. Therefore, I am delighted to collect his essays and short pieces about his hometown and use the title of one of his articles as the book's name, compiling this "Can We Forget Jiangnan?" The text in this book is selected from Ye's monographs "Late Dawn Miscellany" and "Reading by the North Window," as well as the prose collections "New Green" and "Red Beans" co-authored with several Hong Kong writers. Many of the shorter pieces are selected from the column "Frost Red Studio" in the supplement of Hong Kong's "Xin Wan Bao." Since the author did not indicate the writing dates, and some publications did not specify the publication dates, the writing period can only be roughly determined as the early to mid-1960s to the early to mid-1970s. Some articles inevitably bear the imprint of their time, and to preserve their authenticity, they have been left largely unchanged, with only minor necessary deletions in some places and annotations added to a few articles.
