Features: The first edition of this book was awarded as a key national textbook for general higher education under the "Nineteen-Ninety-Five" national plan; it was also recognized as a curriculum textbook for the 21st century. In 2001, it received the second prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award, and in 2002, it won the first prize of the National Excellent Textbook Award for General Higher Education. This book is a revised version based on the first edition, incorporating the spirit of the newly formulated "Basic Requirements for Teaching of the Mechanical Principles Course" and "Suggestions for Teaching Reform of the Mechanical Principles Course" by the Teaching Guidance Sub-Committee of Mechanical Foundation Courses for Higher Education under the Ministry of Education in 2004, as well as the practical experience of recent years' teaching reform.
In this revision, while maintaining the basic system and features of the first edition, traditional content has been appropriately streamlined, and application examples closely linked to engineering practice have been added.
The book is divided into three parts:
Part 1: Kinematic Design of Mechanisms
This part primarily introduces the composition principles of mechanisms, various types of mechanisms, their characteristics, functions, and kinematic design methods, including:
Composition and Structure of Mechanisms, Linkage Mechanisms, Cam Mechanisms, Gear Mechanisms, Gear Trains, Cyclic Motion Mechanisms, Other Common Mechanisms, Composite Mechanisms, Open-Chain Mechanisms;
Part 2: Dynamic Design of Machinery
This part focuses on the dynamic problems that arise during the operation of machinery and how to improve the dynamic performance of machinery through rational design and testing, including:
Dynamics of Mechanical Systems, Balancing of Machinery, Efficiency of Machinery;
Part 3: Systematic Design of Mechanical Systems
This part introduces the content, process, design philosophy, and methods of systematic design for mechanical systems, including:
Overall Systematic Design of Mechanical Systems, Systematic Design of Mechanical Execution Systems, Systematic Design of Mechanical Transmission Systems, and Selection of Prime Movers.
This book can serve as a teaching material for mechanical engineering majors in higher education institutions and can also be referenced by postgraduate students and engineering professionals in the field of mechanical engineering.
