Features: What is photography? It is both a technology and an art, as well as a modern lifestyle. With the advent of the image-driven era, it has become increasingly popular. On university campuses, photography has not only become a compulsory course for art majors but also a widely sought-after elective for non-art majors. As a technology, the automation brought by high technology has significantly lowered the barrier to learning photography; as an art, the infusion of diverse concepts has greatly enriched its expressive content and methods; and with the development and of digital cameras, photography has become a "playful" art accessible to everyone. Since the invention of photography by the Frenchman Daguerre in 1839, it has gone through different stages such as silver plate, wet plate, gelatin dry plate, and film, and has now entered the digital era. Traditional film technology is facing increasing challenges, black and white photography is gradually fading, while the computer image processing technology that replaces it has become an effective means of handling photographic images. Under these circumstances, as an elective course, we still focus on the basic techniques of photography as the core content, while incorporating knowledge of digital technology and striving to integrate it with traditional knowledge as much as possible. Due to time constraints, black and white darkroom techniques have been omitted, and chapters on the basics of digital image processing have been added.
