Features: How long can a dream last? — 14 years. How many 14-year periods are there in a lifetime? —— This book was completed in the summer of 1991 when I was 16 years old. To this day of publication, 14 long years have passed between them. It is said that the time is long, yet it feels like it passed in the blink of an eye. The innocent face of my youth has now become "covered in dust." Once you enter the mortal world, time rushes by. I still remember the old work "Fleeting Rainbow" when my dream shattered:
"Unable to sleep, lying awake, listening to the frosty wind rolling up the curtains.
Cold and damp, the cold clouds are faint, the moon is thin and lonely.
Long night, thoughts are in chaos, the frostlight adds to the traveler's sorrow.
Thinking of Chang'ian, should she be like me, her sorrow makes the young man's face age.
Not a creature of the ordinary, yet how can I bear it, with little chance.
Bian He, empty-handed with jade, Mao Shi, hard to show sharpness,
When the time comes, looking back, it should be tears soaked through the clothes."
Now, the dream has come true. Looking back, I was startled to realize that my current state of mind is exactly as I predicted 14 years ago — indeed, tears soaked the clothes.
I was born into a humble family with three siblings, the youngest. Both my parents were ordinary workers with meager income. I grew up with my second uncle. I was naturally sensitive to words and could write essays as soon as I learned to write, even seemingly mastering traditional Chinese characters without a teacher. In middle school, I would spend sleepless nights reading old traditional Chinese literature. At that time, my life's ambition was to become a writer, to depict all the vicissitudes of life. Because I am an optimist with a pessimistic outlook. Life is short, I hoped to immerse myself in the dream of literature, using my pen to turn "a lifetime" into "many lifetimes."
This martial arts novel is my debut. Since I was 11 years old, I became obsessed with martial arts novels. By the time I was 14, I felt deeply addicted to them, and the only "medicine" was to write martial arts novels myself.
