Features: Think carefully, in life, there aren't actually that many important people. Parents, siblings, colleagues at work, and friends outside—it seems like many, but it really comes down to just a few. Over the past few months, Mei Jia has fully realized that her boss, Liang Qiming, is a significant figure in her life. This realization stems from her conflict with her boss. Unless you don't want to stay at this company, firing your boss, then you can completely ignore him, treating him like just anyone off the street. The problem is, many things don't fit into either/or simple categories; life often goes beyond people's expectations. Liang Qiming, her boss, was defending in court, and Mei Jia sat opposite him, his every move within her sight. Outside the window, the rain poured endlessly, but the atmosphere inside the courtroom was incredibly dry. Both parties seemed like dry tinder, ready to ignite at any moment. Liang Qiming remained calm, sitting thoughtfully at the defendant's seat. During the lengthy reading of the complaint by the opposing lawyer, Liang Qiming had ample opportunity to glance at Mei Jia, but he didn't. As if Mei Jia wasn't even there. Mei Jia felt that the problem between her and her boss began with her suspicion of his character. Once doubt arises, it inevitably shows up in work, the way she speaks, and even in emotions she herself is unaware of—there was always something "off."
To be fair, Liang Qiming was actually Mei Jia's senior at university. They graduated from the same law department, though she hadn't started yet when he graduated, meaning six years separated them. Mei Jia took the national judicial exam while pursuing her graduate studies. The first time she met Liang Qiming, he asked her, "Besides Qiming Law Firm, how many other places did you submit your application?" Mei Jia said, "I only applied to your firm." Liang Qiming paused for a moment and then asked his second question, "May I ask why you chose 'Qiming'?" Mei Jia found such questions overly simplistic, especially coming from a renowned lawyer like Liang Qiming, who even seemed a bit ridiculous. Nevertheless, she answered seriously, believing that everyone enjoys being flattered. Liang Qiming nodded and said, "I must clarify that I am hiring a legal assistant. Becoming a partner will require additional time." Mei Jia said, "I understand."
"Additionally," Liang Qiming added, "although we are alumni, in the law firm, we are all colleagues." Mei Jia felt that Liang Qiming's last sentence was particularly unprofessional. Regardless, Mei Jia still won that job interview and became the only "successful" candidate among thirty-two applicants.
