Features: This book is not a beginner's practice exercise textbook; it is necessary to have studied Beyer's Piano Basic Course or other beginner's materials beforehand. The book consists of nine chapters, introducing exercises such as identifying notes and fixed-position five-finger practice, thumb shifting exercises, exercises with a range exceeding one octave, exercises with bass clef, exercises with accidentals, rests, melodic exercises with and without ornaments, etc. Czerny's Piano Preliminary Exercises (Op. 599) is also not a beginner's practice exercise textbook; it is necessary to have studied Beyer's Piano Basic Course or other beginner's materials beforehand. When studying Beyer's Piano Basic Course reaches around the 50th piece, you can move on to Czerny's Piano Preliminary Exercises (Op. 599) and practice it concurrently with Beyer's Piano Basic Course. Typically, when Czerny's Piano Preliminary Exercises (Op. 599) reaches around the 45th piece, the study of Beyer's Piano Basic Course, which has over 100 pieces, can be completed simultaneously. This not only ensures a gradual progression in practice but also allows for an organic integration of the study of Beyer's Piano Basic Course and Czerny's Piano Preliminary Exercises (Op. 599).
From the 1st to the 10th pieces in Czerny's Piano Preliminary Exercises (Op. 599), the subheadings are "Exercises for Identifying Notes." Due to their simplicity, this book does not provide detailed analysis and explanation for each exercise, but only brief hints. Starting from the 11th piece, explanations will be given based on the characteristics of each piece, from three to four aspects:
- Technical Analysis: Helps students understand the features of the exercise, such as the form of the music, the main technical training, and introduces new symbols, terms, and playing techniques that appear in each exercise.
- Key Points and Difficulties: Highlights the key points, difficulties, and minor errors that may be overlooked, such as fingerings, rhythms, and key signatures.
- Practice Tips: Provides helpful demonstrations for the key points, difficulties, and potential errors of the piece, introducing effective practice methods.
Other aspects offer explanations and descriptions on certain technical training, exercise principles, and music knowledge.
