Patient's question:
Eight months pregnant, ultrasound shows: singleton pregnancy, fetal head located on the left side of the mother, fetal biparietal diameter 83mm, cranial bone ring is complete, no umbilical cord marks were observed on the nape, facial features are unclear due to fetal position. Could abdominal wall defect be misdiagnosed?Doctor's answer:
Gastroschisis is a congenital developmental disorder caused by this phenomenon, which is not significantly related to the mother's physical condition before pregnancy. It is mainly due to chromosomal abnormalities or environmental factors during the period of conception. The earlier the gastroschisis surgery is performed, the better. During pregnancy, routine ultrasound diagnostic examinations can diagnose fetal gastroschisis malformations, but a simple B-mode ultrasound examination cannot be used as an indication for cesarean section.
