Features: The six-volume Emperor Qianlong by Eryuehe depicts the vast social landscape of the Qianlong era. From the highest halls of power to the remotest corners of the martial world, it covers palaces, secluded courtyards, bustling streets, rural areas, battlefields, and entertainment venues, showcasing the historical fluctuations in politics, economy, military, and culture of the Qianlong era. It is imbued with rich cultural significance and can be considered an encyclopedia of the mid-Qing Dynasty. At the same time, the author meticulously portrays the intricate political machinations, strategic military planning, diverse scholars, and the ups and downs of human relationships, with profound depth and artistic. It is currently Eryuehe's most mature and impressive long work.
In my personal opinion, Emperor Qianlong may not be as electrifying and thrilling as Emperor Yongzheng, which leaves readers on the edge of their seats with constant suspense and danger. However, it possesses its own grand historical scenes like a giant whale leaping through the sea and a magnificent cultural landscape like clouds and mist. It draws you into a serene yet profound journey, as if traversing through clouds or gazing at the vast ocean, offering a unique and unforgettable experience.
Although the work is extensive, each volume stands as a complete segment with its own focus and structure, forming independent gardens with their own entrances, allowing readers to enter without strict adherence to order. If you approach it with leisure and read it in sequence, you can appreciate its grandeur, uncover hidden threads weaving through the narrative, and observe the author's thoughtful portrayal of the feudal era with a sense of vigilance, openness, and realism, outlining the trajectory of historical development and shedding light on the complexities of human nature across time. On the other hand, if you are caught up in worldly affairs and read hastily, or pick it up occasionally, randomly, or even skip chapters, you can still discover a beautiful and enchanting landscape like the Shanmai Road or the Fuchun scenery, observe the author's subtle yet brilliant literary craftsmanship, and be deeply moved by the exquisite portrayal of truth and falsehood.
