Is GH therapy effective for treating pediatric achondroplasia?

Patient's question:

A friend of my friend's child has been crying a lot recently. My friends thought he might have a serious illness and took him to a hospital in the county for a check-up. The attending doctor said he had symptoms of microtia, a condition where the ear cartilage does not develop properly. I was wondering, how effective is GH therapy for treating microtia in children?

Doctor's answer:

Achondroplasia (ACH) is the most common type of congenital dwarfism, characterized by a defect in endochondral ossification while membranous ossification is normal. Therefore, its features include normal flat bone development and abnormal long bone development. Clinical features: delayed growth and development; large head with prominent forehead; long trunk with short limbs (upper segment > lower segment); normal intelligence; and specific changes on skeletal X-rays (dumbbell-shaped).
