Features: Elderly universities are places where seniors receive continuing education. It is understood that in major cities across the country, districts, streets, universities, and various system departments all have their own elderly universities or universities for retired cadres, with a total number exceeding 10,000. Some elderly universities are quite large, with thousands of students enrolled. Due to the generally low tuition fees for elderly universities, they have created favorable conditions for their development. In recent years, the urban elderly population has been increasing year by year. Although they have retired, most remain active and engaged. As their material lives have improved, they are keen on pursuing a higher quality of life. To enrich their spiritual lives and enjoy the joy of "learning in old age and finding joy in old age," they voluntarily join the lifelong learning movement, embodying the spirit of "learning until old age," like an evergreen tree that maintains its vitality. In elderly universities, painting and calligraphy classes are among the most popular subjects among students. The process of creating paintings and calligraphy involves a balance of soft and hard, combining stillness with movement, which helps learners harmonize their physiology and psychology, cultivate their character, and prolong their lives. Statistics show that among the long-lived, calligraphers rank first, followed by painters, which is one of the reasons why learning painting and calligraphy has become widely popular among the elderly. To meet the needs of the numerous students in painting and calligraphy classes at elderly universities and self-taught elderly painting enthusiasts who desire a standardized teaching material tailored to their specific characteristics, rather than general technical books, we have specially invited experts and teachers who have long been engaged in teaching painting and calligraphy at elderly universities to jointly organize the writing of this series. The series features appropriate thematic choices, a scientifically rational chapter arrangement, and simple and easy-to-understand illustrations and descriptions. The entire teaching material consists of eight volumes. We believe that the publication of this series will undoubtedly provide beneficial assistance to elderly painting and calligraphy enthusiasts.
