Features: The "Experиментal Art Series" focuses on the spirit of exploration, experimentation, and innovation that has been prevalent in world art since the 20th century (especially after 1960). Through the publication of works, essays, reviews, biographies, and interviews, it showcases experimental achievements in various fields such as fine arts, literature, film, theater, music, architecture, and photography, while also presenting the social and cultural contexts that gave rise to these achievements. The series has been published intermittently since 1992, aiming to provide textual references and theoretical research opportunities for contemporary Chinese art workers. "The Hollow Fire": The title is moving. The purpose of this book is to locate the fire in Yves Klein's works on three levels: as an illusory projection, a ceremonial symbol, and an artistic practice. This three-tiered analysis places the fire in the path of the monochromatic painter within the philosophical meditations of Gaston Bachelard and the psychoanalysis of Carl Jung, that is, at the center of alchemical thought.
Pierre Restany, due to his deep admiration for Yves Klein's works from the very beginning, became the only contemporary art historian capable of revisiting and discussing the people and works influenced by fire.
This highly unique re-reading of Yves Klein will open up unexpected realms of reflection for some, while for others, it will certainly be less surprising, as they firmly believe, "In the heart of the void, as in the heart of a person, there is a burning fire."
