Features: Chinese landscape painting is an important part of Chinese painting. Landscape painting emerged relatively early in the history of Chinese painting. From the works that have been passed down to this day, the earliest landscape painting to appear in an independent form is "Spring Outing" by Zhan Ziqian of the Sui Dynasty. Thereafter, it developed rapidly through the Tang, Song, and Yuan dynasties. After the Yuan Dynasty, the emergence of Chinese literati painting further added vitality to landscape painting. As a result, landscape painting moved away from realistic landscape representation and entered a realm where poetry, calligraphy, painting, and seal carving were integrated into one. The Four Great Masters of the Yuan Dynasty—Gu Gongwang, Wang Meng, Wu Zhen, and Ni Zan—the Four Great Masters of the Ming Dynasty—Shen Zhou, Wen Zhengming, Tang Yin, and Qiu Ying—as well as the Four Monk Masters of the Qing Dynasty—Shitao, Baishi Shanshan, Hongren—and the Four Wang Masters of the Qing Dynasty—Wang Hui, Wang Jian, Wang Shimin, and Wang Yuanqi—all excelled in landscape painting.
