Author: Zhao Mingcheng (Song Dynasty)
Publisher:
Publication Date: 2005-10-01
Features: All texts in this book are based on the Qing Dynasty Jiaqing era's Yan Yu Tang edition, used for collation. The collation sources include the "San Chang Wu Qi Cong Shu" series and the photocopied Lü Wutong (Wutong, the courtesy name of Lü Baozhong from the Qing Dynasty) manuscript of the "Four Classics Continuation Compilation." The inscriptions quoted in Zhao Mingcheng's "Postscript" are cross-referenced with Hong Shi's "Lishu" and Wang Chang's "Golden and Stone Collection." Except for obvious errors, no changes are made, only explained in the "Collation Notes." The original edition included Lu Wenqiang's annotations, which are fully retained in this book, with the original text marked as "Case" at the beginning. The "San Chang Wu Qi" edition originally included Huang Benji and Jiang Gui's annotations on the names and courtesy titles of the, which are also uniformly quoted in this book's table of contents, enclosed in parentheses for distinction. The "Collation Notes" appended to Lü Wutong's manuscript include Zhang Yuanji's "Collation Records," which quote Lü's original collation as well as the annotations of He Huo, Gu Qianli, and others, providing significant benefits for correcting the original text. This book also selectively adopts these annotations and notes them separately in the "Collation Notes." The general terms in the "Postscript" are not explained in this book, but references to classical allusions and old texts cited by the author are annotated with their sources as much as possible. Additionally, brief notes are added for obscure terms related to astronomy, metrology, and the names of figures, to aid readers. In the "Collation Notes," references to ancient books and modern works are often abbreviated, with a separate "List of Cited Works" provided for comparison. The "Golden and Stone Records" table of contents lists 2,000 inscriptions, but the "Postscript" only includes 502. For entries with a "Postscript," this book uniformly marks the title of the corresponding entry in the table of contents with a "△" symbol at the top right. For entries that follow a postscript in a specific volume, the title of that entry is annotated with "The above postscript is in volume X of the entire book" for easy reference.
