In this booming market economy era, design encompasses many new concepts and cultures, illustrating that people are no longer satisfied with simple repetition and consumption of material life. While pursuing material abundance, they also do not abandon their thirst for deep cultural connotations. When it comes to design, people often mistakenly believe it is a unique privilege of designers. In reality, design should be an indispensable part of human life, with every material product designed and produced based on people's living needs. Of course, it also integrates people's spiritual values and orientations. Everyone has the right and potential to participate in design. Every successful product design expresses the shared creativity and tacit understanding between designers and the public. In real society, designers are involved in countless design practices, such as environmental art design, interior design, fashion art design, advertising design, etc. Sometimes, they also participate in various social and cultural activities, such as artistic performances, public welfare campaigns, and more. These activities involve both collective and individual actions, indicating that the philosophy of design has permeated every aspect of our lives. To enhance the design awareness and quality of the entire population, the mission of design education is even more arduous. The continuous innovation and reform of design education in art colleges are currently a very important research topic, and among these, the compilation and research of teaching materials have become the top priority. Without a comprehensive system of teaching materials, the development of design education will be constrained, affecting the education and cultivation of design talents. At the same time, due to the increasing number of candidates applying to art colleges for design majors in recent years, they urgently need a targeted, high-quality, and distinctive teaching material. The re-publication of the "Introduction to Design Basics Series" led by the design department teachers of our college and supported by some teachers from art colleges in other provinces and cities, as well as design professionals, is a truly commendable event. It has a profound impact and significance on the development and popularization of design education. We hope that the publication and distribution of this series will play a positive role in promoting the improvement of teaching quality in design majors, meeting the needs of design enthusiasts, and enhancing the design awareness and quality of the public.
