Features: After entering the new century, activities commemorating and promoting Qu Qiubai have developed in a diversified direction. Not only have various books been published, symposiums been held, and touring photo exhibitions been organized, but large-scale documentaries have also been produced, all with the approval of relevant central authorities. Now, the Changzhou Qu Qiubai Memorial Hall has compiled South of the Yangtze: A Portrait of Qu Qiubai, a first in the history of over half a century dedicated to promoting Qu Qiubai. This portrait book is divided into seven parts and includes a wealth of precious historical photographs, many of which are published for the first time. It features photographs of Qu Qiubai from different periods of his life, his parents and siblings, his former wife Wang Jianhong, his "life companion" Yang Zhihua, and Qu Duoyi, as well as photographs of Communist Party leaders and Comintern representatives with whom he once worked. Additionally, it includes images of the historical places, buildings, and handwritten manuscripts where Qu Qiubai lived, studied, and worked, accompanied by numerous descriptive texts, thereby outlining the footsteps of his brilliant life. This "picture-story" format—easy-to-understand promotional style—is readily accepted by a broad readership. This is one of the original intentions of the planners: to allow more readers to understand Qu Qiubai the martyr and the tumultuous history of China's revolutionary and cultural struggles. This holds positive practical significance for those currently studying and practicing the "Three Represents" theory. Qu Qiubai is widely admired by later generations for both his literary and political contributions. This book, in its richly illustrated form, comprehensively showcases the life of an early leader of our Party. It guides readers from his beautiful hometown of Changzhou, following in his footsteps, through over 200 precious and timeless photographs, accompanied by elegant and concise text, to witness the subject's journey from growth to maturity and ultimate sacrifice. This book provides a three-dimensional resource for literary enthusiasts and Party history researchers and is currently the most comprehensive book in visual form to reflect the life of Qu Qiubai.
