Features: Bi Yuan was a high-ranking official during the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty, a top scholar in the imperial examinations, and served as the Governor of Shaanxi twice. During his tenure in Shaanxi, he compiled the Guanzhong Shengji Tuzhi (Illustrated Records of Famous Scenic Spots in Guanzhong) in 30 volumes in the 41st year of the Qianlong era, which was included in the Siku Quanshu (Complete Library of the Four Treasuries). His work "uses prefectures and counties as the vertical axis and geography, famous mountains, major rivers, and historical sites as the horizontal axis," "investigates the origins and developments, compiling references from various books," and is concise yet comprehensive, neither overly brief nor overly verbose. It is hailed as "a treasure trove for collecting information on historical sites" and is a key document for studying the historical geography and cultural relics of Shaanxi, especially those related to the Zhou, Qin, Han, and Tang dynasties. The Guanzhong Shengji Tuzhi has long been lamented in academia as a rare "" (rare and hard-to-find original). Considering that the Guanzhong Congshu edition (Bi Yuan's private printing) differs significantly in arrangement and content from the Siku Quanshu edition preserved in the Wenyuan Pavilion, this book was compiled using the Guanzhong Congshu edition as the base text and the Siku Quanshu edition as the reference, with meticulous cross-examination that produced over 2,940 annotations. This book was a key project supported by the National Ancient Books Compilation Planning Leading Group in 2004 and includes 64 maps and 159 pages of illustrations, featuring territorial maps of Shaanxi's prefectures and prefectures, maps of famous mountains and rivers, and historical site maps from various dynasties. The publication of this book has contributed to the economic development and tourism industry of Shaanxi.
