Features: Pediatric dentistry has rapidly developed into an independent and young discipline over the past 20 years. Previous textbooks were categorized under oral medicine or preventive dentistry. In the past two decades, pediatric dentistry has gradually established its own system in teaching, research, and clinical practice, making it necessary to compile textbooks specifically for pediatric dentistry. This book is a long-term curriculum textbook written by the Peking University School of Stomatology and eight-year dental medical students. It aims to enhance students' ability to read original English textbooks on pediatric dentistry and related oral medicine and medical literature. Therefore, we have strengthened students' memory of English professional terms in this textbook, with English translations provided after each technical term. Most figures and tables in the book are also annotated in English. Chapter 16, "Human Dental Pulp Stem Cells," and the "Pediatric Dentistry Test Questions" in the appendix were contributed by overseas scholars and are entirely written in English. Our goal is to facilitate students in reading professional knowledge while reinforcing their English vocabulary, thereby improving their professional English proficiency and facilitating international communication. This book highlights the characteristics of pediatric dentistry, excluding any content overlapping with endodontics, periodontics, or preventive dentistry that is not relevant to children. It includes additional material on the examination and diagnosis of pediatric oral diseases, as well as the genetic aspects of oral diseases.
