Features: To adapt to the new developments in China's higher education, improve teaching quality, and meet the practical needs of the state and society for talent cultivation in the new era, the new "Teaching Requirements for College English Courses" (Trial) has set high requirements for reading comprehension skills (Reading Comprehension): the ability to read articles of moderate difficulty and understand their meaning, to read English original textbooks and articles from English-speaking countries' newspapers and magazines with the help of a dictionary, to read review articles in one's field of study smoothly, and to meet new requirements for reading speed, such as reading at a speed of 70 words per minute and 100 words per minute when reading longer, slightly less challenging materials quickly. The ability to read common applied writing materials in work and daily life, and to use effective reading methods while reading. To meet the above requirements, improve the English reading comprehension skills of current students and a broad group of young readers, expand knowledge, vocabulary, and reading skills, and lay a solid foundation for passing the College English Test Band 4 (CET-4). At the same time, extensive reading is also an effective way to develop a sense of language and learn to think in English. For this purpose, we have compiled the "Super·Graded and Categorized English-Chinese Comparative Readers·CET-4" series. This series consists of four volumes: "Science and Technology," "Economy and Law," "Literature and Art," and "Comprehensive." The short passages are fresh in material, mostly selected from the latest information in English newspapers and publications, and are both entertaining and knowledge-rich. They not only broaden horizons but also help readers understand the ever-changing world, and are inspiring, leading to improvements in various aspects of reading.
