Nyingchi, located in the southeastern part of Tibet and the lower reaches of the Yarlung Tsangpo River, means "the treasure of the sun" in Tibetan. In the eyes of Tibetans, it is the place closest to the rising sun. Nyingchi, with its majestic snow-capped peaks and deep gorges intertwined with winding rivers and lakes, showcases the grandeur of the Tibetan Plateau and the picturesque beauty of the Jiangnan water towns. The pristine natural scenery and traditional folk customs blend perfectly here. Here, you can find the world's Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon and the world's 15th-highest peak, Namcha Barwa. Here, there is the world's largest vertical topographic distribution, with well-preserved primeval forests and an exceptionally rich gene pool of flora and fauna. Unique geographical features have painted Nyingchi as a paradise on earth with snow-capped mountains, clear waters, deep gorges, lush ancient trees, and fragrant fruits and flowers.
With an average elevation of only 3,100 meters, Nyingchi is the lowest-altitude region in Tibet. On its 117,000 square kilometers of land, more than 10 ethnic groups, including Tibetans, Monba, Lhoba, Dulong, Naxi, Lisu, and Nu, along with the Pumi people, live together, with a total population of 200,000. Even as people call our planet the "Global Village," Nyingchi still has Motuo County, the only county in the country without road access. The relatively isolated environment has helped preserve the traditional customs, lifestyles, and religious beliefs of the various ethnic groups in Nyingchi, along with their unique dwellings, festivals, and dances.
Legend has it that Princess Wencheng crossed the Yarlung Tsangpo River and passed through Gongbo (the old name of Nyingchi) to enter Tibet, leaving behind many enduring legends. Historically, Nyingchi was also renowned as a preserve of Bon, Tibet's original religion. The unique geographical environment, traditional folk customs, ancient legends, and mysterious religious myths have cast a primal yet enigmatic aura over Nyingchi, creating its beauty and wonder while sustaining a harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.
In fact, Nyingchi is not unfamiliar to the people of Guangdong and Fujian provinces, as cadres from these provinces have been supporting Nyingchi region. The Deputy Director of the Broadcasting and Television Department of Southern Television has also joined the fourth batch of cadre teams to support the development of broadcasting and television in the Tibetan areas of Nyingchi. In June 2005, at the invitation of the Nyingchi region of Tibet, Southern Television dispatched a large production team to Nyingchi to shoot a large-scale documentary titled Nyingchi Shambhala and a major special program titled Nyingchi Today. When Southern Television held an open selection for the production team, over 100 employees enthusiastically applied. After a rigorous and careful selection process, eight outstanding team members were chosen from various departments to form the production team.
After intensive preparations, the team set off for Nyingchi in late June 2005. In the Nyingchi region, the production team was warmly welcomed by the local people. The Nyingchi Regional Committee, the Nyingchi Regional People's Government, the cadre teams from Guangdong and Fujian provinces, as well as departments such as the Nyingchi Regional Propaganda Department and the Tourism Bureau, attached great importance to the filming and allocated human, material, and financial resources to support the project. With the cooperation of all parties, the production team spent 35 days traveling over 3,000 kilometers, covering almost the entire Nyingchi region. They encountered rare mudslides, spent the night on snow-capped mountains over 4,000 meters high, visited the home of Alo Song, the leader of the Pumi people in Xiaochayu, endured hours of bumpy rides, and even went to interview soldiers in a border garrison between China and India... All these experiences, full of challenges and passion, left an unforgettable impression on everyone.
It was this unforgettable spirit that inspired every member of the production team to create, expressing their observations, experiences, and feelings authentically in the book Listening to the Voice of the Throne of the Sun.,,——、、、、、......,、。,,“”。,;,;,。,,......
