Features: Proverbs are the essence of language and sparks of wisdom, representing the refinement of human experience and insights gained from long-term life and social practice. Most proverbs are very concise, witty, profound in meaning, and rich in philosophy. At the same time, because proverbs often employ rhetorical devices such as rhyme and parallelism, they are pleasant to read and easy to memorize. However, like everything else, proverbs have two sides. Some proverbs may contradict each other in content, but from a dialectical perspective, they do not conflict. This is because they originate from different historical contexts and also reflect the objectivity and complexity of the world. It is hoped that by learning some English proverbs, readers will not only master English idiomatic expressions but also gain insights into the way of thinking and customs of English-speaking countries, thereby broadening their knowledge and horizons. The annotations for each proverb are kept brief while maintaining the original style. When proverbs similar to or equivalent to those in China are encountered, their ratios are listed below the translation. Terms involving allusions are explained in footnotes. The table of contents and each proverb are arranged in alphabetical order in English for easy reference.
