Author: Wang Zengru, Li Xiangdong
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 2006-01-01
Features:
1. This chronicle is primarily compiled based on Ding Ling's works, letters, diaries, Chen Ming's diaries, letters, and notes, as well as the diaries and notes of Ding Ling's staff. It also references some historical archives, materials, recollections of those involved in events, and academic works by researchers.
2. Ding Ling's creative works are generally arranged in chronological order of writing. If the writing date is unknown, they are arranged by publication date. The initial publication time, periodical, and collection in which they were first included are usually noted. Unpublished works and letters are marked as "unpublished manuscripts," with approximately 40 letters.
3. In 1955 and 1957, Ding Ling suffered two instances of false accusations and suppression, being labeled as a member of the "anti-Party group" and a "rightist." The determination and verification of her case were closely linked to those of other key members of the group. Therefore, the chronicle also records important details of other individuals involved in the case. During Ding Ling and Chen Ming's residence in Shanxi from 1978, Chen Ming twice traveled to Beijing to advocate for Ding Ling's case, with more detailed records of her activities in the capital. After Ding Ling returned to Beijing in 1979, Chen Ming accompanied her on every visit outside the city, though individual instances are not all noted.
4. For important events with differing accounts, various narratives are presented simultaneously to allow readers to compare and discern the truth.
