Features: The College English Test Band 4 (CET-4) is a nationwide standardized examination organized by the National College English Testing Committee under the Ministry of Education. To meet the demands of the new era for college students' English proficiency, the CET-4 has undergone significant reforms, aiming to more comprehensively assess candidates' language application skills and help them further improve their English abilities. To assist candidates in familiarizing themselves with and adapting to the various question types of the CET-4, we have organized the compilation of this series of books. The new sample questions have undergone substantial modifications compared to the original formats. The weight of the listening section has been greatly increased, rising from 20% to 35%, with the compound dictation becoming a mandatory component (accounting for 10% of the total score). Long conversations have been added to the listening section (accounting for 7%). The weight of the reading section has been reduced from the original 40% (or even 50%) to 35%, with significant changes in question types, including the addition of rapid reading comprehension and passage vocabulary understanding, while passage reading comprehension has been reduced to only 20% of the total score. Translation from English to Chinese has been removed, replaced by translation from Chinese to English; error correction has been added, while vocabulary and structure tests have been removed. The reforms are moving toward a more practical direction. Listening and reading (together accounting for 70% of the total score) have become the two most crucial components affecting exam performance. In this series of books, we follow the 《College Teaching Curriculum Requirements》 and, based on the sample questions released by the National College English Testing Committee in 2005, as well as reference to past exam papers, we introduce the various question types and strategies of the CET-4 in each volume. We have also specifically compiled exercises for each question type, as well as a set of mock tests and a comprehensive exercise workbook. This arrangement helps candidates focus their time and effort on their weak areas before the exam, master effective strategies, and improve their learning efficiency. Oral English tests have been conducted in many major cities across the country, providing college students with the opportunity to assess their oral English proficiency. In this book, we have also provided a brief introduction to the question types and methods for the oral exam.
