Features: In recent years, the question format of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) listening section has evolved from simple to complex, from general to detailed, and from broad listening to in-depth comprehension. The number of words beyond the examination criteria, especially those in repeated dialogue, has increased. Questions requiring comprehension and accurate understanding of detailed statements have also risen. The selection of questions has become more similar, the differentiation of diagrams has decreased, and the difficulty of judgment has increased. Currently, some candidates with approximately three to four years of professional Japanese study achieve an average score of only 50-60 in the Level 1 listening exam. Non-professional candidates generally perform even worse. Clearly, the listening exam has become a major challenge for candidates.
