Later, he chose to stay in Hubei and has been engaged in research work at the Hubei Provincial Academy of Social Sciences since 1980, being promoted to the rank of researcher in 1992. This book is a biographical work about Sartre and his women; however, it is not a biography in the usual sense. A typical biographical work focuses on describing the factual aspects of the subject's life, emphasizing the collection and organization of materials. This is certainly necessary but not sufficient, especially for a subject as complex as Sartre in terms of thought, personality, and experiences. A good biographical work should, on one hand, fully utilize primary sources, reveal little-known facts, and provide vivid and detailed descriptions; on the other hand, this description should be analytical, even for those who are merely familiar with the subject, as well as the subject's life itself, so that they can gain more beneficial insights.
