Features: Qi Gong was a renowned scholar, painter, and calligrapher of the modern era. He was a prolific writer, well-versed in linguistics and even researched the eight-legged essay, a historical literary form. He excelled in poetry and was also an expert in the authentication of ancient paintings and calligraphy, particularly in the study of stele inscriptions. Qi Gong was a self-taught scholar, a high school graduate who, through arduous effort, became an expert and scholar in multiple fields. He was approachable, kind, and guided younger generations with patience, something I deeply felt. When teaching calligraphy, he avoided abstract and empty theories and never claimed to be following the footsteps of ancient masters or famous calligraphers. Instead, he explained the principles and methods based on the physiological structure of the human body and the properties of calligraphy tools. His explanations were clear, practical, and easy to understand. Regarding the achievements of Qi Gong's calligraphic art, this collection of selected works speaks for itself, and I see no need to elaborate further. This short essay merely touches upon some of his research on calligraphy and stele inscriptions, as well as his own journey in learning calligraphy and the hardships he endured. I hope this may offer a small contribution to the appreciation and study of his calligraphic art!
