Recently, I acquired a manuscript of Wang Riqi’s poetry from his reading hall, and while examining this collection, I found Wang Riqi’s name had been removed, indicating it was printed after the third year of the Yongzheng reign. The poem “Rebuilding the Xing Palace in the Twenty-third Volume” was also removed, showing that this book was reprinted shortly after its publication, as the Crown Prince was deposed again in the fifty-first year of the Kangxi reign, leading to a reprinted version. I saw this first printing in an old bookstore, with no missing parts, so I asked Sun Gushi, the appraiser, to replace it for me. Upon its arrival, I wrote a few words here. It can be seen that the matter of printed books is also quite difficult to speak of. Even a collection of a Qing Dynasty scholar is somewhat related. However, the poems exchanged between Zhutuo and the sons of the Qi family of Meili, as well as Zhu Langxie, were not removed, showing that the era was slightly distant, and there were fewer taboos. Not only was Zhutuo diligent in righteousness, but also gradually avoided restrictions. Five days before Qingming in the Jihai year. Huang Chang records. The later printed versions of Bao Shu Ting Ji often lose Zhutuo’s portrait, but this copy preserves it, making it precious. I once saw Wang Dunning’s complete works, which also had a portrait, carved by the renowned artist, also rare. Recently, famous Qing Dynasty collections are no longer valued, and their copies have almost been lost, which is truly regrettable. The second day of the end of the Jihai month, rain continued without stopping. Sitting idly in the Yan’an Pavilion, I casually wrote. The Wu Yue Poetry Selection printed by the Shunzhi Guansheng Tang contains many poems by Zhutuo, all early works not included in this collection. Zhu Langxie said that the late Wen Yi and Wen Ke had a day of elegance. They once passed the Xiuzhou in the Xinchou year, docking to visit, but Wen Ke took a long time to come out because he had redeemed his belt from a pawn shop. His integrity was like this. Now his grandchildren are poor and lack means to survive, yet they still stand independently, detached from worldly affairs, as the pride of Hancheng. All this can be verified with this collection. Zhutuo and Langxie were indeed lifelong friends. Two days after Qingming in the Jihai year, rain window. “Ten years without seeing the bamboo in the village, thinking of Zhutuo north and south kills me. Lost to your family’s traveling son, one scissor cuts off the spring in the small garden.” “Zhang Shao of Zhang’s hall, after visiting Mount Heng, now visits Mount Hua. Rest your left elbow, don’t speak of cowardice, your cane must reach the top.” Zhang Shao of Boshan’s Muwei Poetry Collection in six volumes, printed in the Qianlong era at Shuiming Tower, Zhutuo had one book and two waves, which are supplemented according to the original. April 26th of the Jimao year, Huang Chang. Today, while shopping, I found a calligraphy scroll by Zhutuo in the Duyun Pavilion, recording one of the poems from the night when East River served Langxie in the twenty-first volume. Written on rice paper, it looks as if it has never been touched. According to the collection, volumes twenty-two to twenty-five end in the fourth year of the Kangxi reign, when Zhutuo was already seventy-eight years old. The writing may have been even later, but the brushwork was still very rich. Zhu Shi, though not famous for calligraphy, was exceptionally elegant and rarely circulated, making it valuable. September 25th of the Yibai year, Huang Chang records in the Yan’an Pavilion, coinciding with the tenth birthday of Rong Jie. Bao Shu Ting Ji in eighty volumes, with an appendix of Ye’er Yuefu and Di Yu Xiao Draft in ten volumes, written by the author’s son Kun Tian. Printed in the Kangxi reign. Twelve lines, twenty-three characters per line. White margins, double left margin. Preface by Pan Lei in the year of the Kangxi reign, preface by Cha Shanxing in the fifty-third year of the Kangxi reign, and the original preface. Portrait, with a praise by Gong Xianglin. Table of contents. Collected with seals: “Xu Shu” (Zhu Fang), “Xu Family of Jiangxia’s Study” (Zhu Fang), “Once Returned to Xu Family’s Strong and Luxurious” (Zhu Chang), and “Record of the Preservation of Paintings and Calligraphy in the Old Residence of Jiufeng” (Zhu Chang).
Yan Shixi’s Poetry Manuscript My copy was purchased from an old bookstore in Hangzhou. Mr. Yan Baoshan has always laughed at me for buying damaged and broken books, but he seemed to value this damaged copy, as it was included in his life’s work Biàn Shū Jīngyǎnlù. The book reads: “Preserved volumes three to five. Without the first volume, the author, publisher, and volume number are unknown. The four…
