Features: Due to multiple positive developments, the IELTS exam made significant progress in 2006, achieving outstanding results across the board, and demonstrated a competitive edge against TOEFL, showing a trend of parity. This fulfilled a statement I made seven years ago in London to Sean #8226;Hyde, the then President of the British Council IELTS, when I said: "IELTS has immense market potential and will definitely rise as a force to be reckoned with." Before saying this, I had just finished teaching an IELTS class and came to London with teaching insights and a desire to further understand the exam, meeting Sean #8226;Hyde. When discussing the competitor, TOEFL, Sean #8226;Hyde said, "TOEFL is an empire." (TOEFL is an empire.) The implication was that IELTS could not compete with it. I confidently responded with the statement I had just made. Now, with the right timing and circumstances, the stars have aligned. Upon returning to China from the UK, I immediately began developing a systematic IELTS textbook, which became the first officially published IELTS training textbook in China with a true sense of purpose. Two years later, after continuously summarizing teaching experiences, I led a team to develop the second-generation IELTS textbook with fully independent intellectual property rights. Due to its originality, operability, and efficiency, it quickly gained immense recognition and credibility among students. Many who were studying abroad in preparatory courses sought this textbook in China, leading students and peers to give me the nickname "Hu IELTS." To me, this title signifies more than just a name—it represents expectation and motivation. To live up to everyone's expectations, I have continuously upgraded this textbook. Since the establishment of New Oriental, the fourth-generation IELTS textbook has been developed, and over the past seven years, nearly half a million students have used it. At New Oriental, I once again assembled a team of outstanding Chinese and foreign language training experts, investing heavily over more than a year to develop the first foundational IELTS training textbook in China, filling another domestic gap. Meanwhile, the teaching model adopted by Beijing New Oriental School was scientifically designed by me and my colleagues at New Oriental based on years of teaching experience, and many training institutions have since emulated it. These research achievements, rich in academic and technical content, with independent intellectual property rights, and of me and numerous Chinese and foreign language training experts, have established Beijing New Oriental School as an academically recognized institution in Beijing and across the country.
Over the years, with the gathering of talent and favorable conditions, New Oriental has attracted a large number of elite professionals in the IELTS training field, including giants and rising stars, with both foreign experts and international students joining, as well as seasoned domestic training elites. This dream has driven me to persist in the IELTS training field for seven years, constantly striving for excellence! This dream has enabled me and all my colleagues at New Oriental to persevere and achieve remarkable success!
