Histopathological Diagnosis of Skin Diseases: Second Edition

Author: Zhu Xuejun, Tu Ping (editors)
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 2001-10-01
Features: Since the first edition was published, it has been a full ten years. The purpose of publishing this book, as stated in the first edition, was "to introduce a simple, easy-to-learn, and logically structured method that enables us to grasp dermatopathology more easily and make correct, specific diagnoses of skin lesions—the diagnostic method of analyzing tissue architectural patterns under microscopic examination." After ten years of clinical and teaching practice, it can be said that this goal has been achieved. This method, pioneered by the distinguished dermatopathologist Professor A. Bernard Ackerman, has been well promoted in China and has played a positive role in advancing the development of dermatopathology in our country. This edition retains the style of the first edition and classifies and organizes diseases according to their histopathological characteristics, specifically the structural patterns of lesions. The focus is on the histopathological features and diagnostic key points of each disease, while also discussing its clinical characteristics, laboratory tests, and differential diagnosis. Based on readers' feedback, the following improvements have been made in this edition: First, an index has been added for easy reference; second, for the same disease, descriptions are concentrated under one heading as much as possible; third, many new disease entities have been added based on clinical needs; fourth, the integration of pathology and clinical practice is emphasized, allowing clinicians to improve their diagnostic skills and pathologists to enhance their understanding of dermatological conditions. If the first edition was an "introduction," then this edition is an "assimilation and absorption," with Chinese characteristics.
